Flying Private in the UK? Know These 10 Etiquette Rules

Avoid faux pas. Impress your host or clients with proper private jet manners.

Dress the Part

Business casual or smart attire is expected—even on private jets. Avoid flip-flops and overly casual wear unless specifically advised.

Be Punctual, Not Fashionably Late

Arriving 15–30 minutes before departure is ideal. Unlike commercial flights, the aircraft and crew are waiting just for you.

Respect the Host (if You're a Guest)

If invited, never assume it’s your flight. Let the host pick the seat and control the environment.

Seating Matters

Don’t rush to the best seat unless you're the primary passenger. Defer to senior or higher-ranking individuals.

Keep the Cabin Tidy

Clean up after yourself. Use coasters, avoid spills, and store items respectfully.

Use of Devices

Always ask before making calls or using in-flight Wi-Fi for video chats. Keep volume low.

Conversation and Behavior

Keep topics professional or neutral unless you're among close friends. Avoid oversharing or loud behavior.

Tipping and Gratitude

Tipping the crew is appreciated but not mandatory. Around £50–£200 per crew member is standard in the UK.
